Dear Newfane School Community,
I hope this correspondence finds you and your loved ones well. We wanted to provide you an update on today’s situation that impacted our school district.
Due to the collaborative partnership with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, the source of today’s non-credible Snapchat threat has been identified. The juvenile has been arrested. The Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the post was not credible and there was never a threat to the safety of our students.
We understand that this situation has caused anxiety for students, staff, and families. We kindly ask that you speak with your children about the importance of reporting concerns directly to our school personnel and not sharing unverified information on social media. Sharing unverified information can lead to unnecessary confusion and worry, which negatively impacts our learning environments.
Please know that the Newfane Central School District has the safety of its students, staff and families as its utmost priority. We thoroughly investigate all reports with the assistance and guidance of our School Resource Officer.
I would like to thank the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department for their immediate and thorough response to bring this matter to a close.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s principal directly.
We thank you for your continued patience and support.
Sincerely,
James Lupini
Superintendent of Schools
