TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
BUS GENERAL OVERVIEW
The safety and security of our Newfane students while traveling with us is the most important task here at the Ridge Road Express-Student Transportation of America (STA). Daily we transport approximately 1250 district students to 25 different schools daily. In hopes to maximize our efficiency and keep our students safe this informational packet will review some of our standard protocol.
Daily Bus Schedules
STA develops the bus schedules to ensure accurate and timely drop off points for our students. This ensures that they are safe and secure when we pick them up and drop them off. Provided pickup times given to parents are estimated. It is recommended that your child be at their bus stop five minutes prior to the scheduled time. Please have children at their assigned stop, visible and ready to board when the bus arrives. We cannot pick up any children not at their designated stop. Buses cannot wait for children to exit residences or traverse long driveways regardless of inclement weather conditions. Please make sure to dress for the weather.
When dropping off our students in Pre-K thru 4th grade, we require the adult receiving them to be visually present. We want our little ones to feel the safety and security of the transfer from one adult to another adult. We also cannot make changes to our routes, including the addition of a child for personal reasons, such as playdates, sleepovers, birthday parties, etc.
Lastly, if there is a reason to make a change to bussing mid-year, we ask that you understand, any changes require a 72 hour turnaround at the bus garage.
Forms for bussing are available under students/transportation on the Newfane Central Schools website for families. If you have questions, please call the bus garage.
Transportation Request Form – Form A
A student may only be picked up and/or dropped off at a location (baby-sitter, custodial parent, daycare) located within the Newfane Central School District boundary. This applies to all students attending Newfane Buildings as well as public and private schools outside of Newfane. Drop-off and Pick-up will always be in the boundaries of the Newfane CSD.
1. Forms must be completed and returned to the Transportation Department by August 4th of the school year or upon new registration for which transportation is requested. They are also available at your school’s main office.
2. If there is a change mid-year, parents and/or legal guardians will need to resubmit Transportation Request Form A. It will take up to 72 hours to reschedule.
3. The A.M. and P.M. address may be different as long as it is a consistent schedule. For custodial situations, both parent’s residences and one alternate address for childcare purposes may be used. This allows for three total addresses – parent one address, parent two address and child care (alternate) address. Only one alternate address will be accepted.
NON-Rider Form – Form B
If your student drives themselves or does not require any transportation for the a.m. and the p.m., please complete this form and we will update our system to reflect this information.
Private, Charter and Parochial School Transportation – Form C
Transportation is provided, as required by law, to private, charter and parochial schools within a 15 mile radius of the student's home. Every year, all non-public school students who require transportation must submit a proof of residence and a non-public transportation form no later than August 1st. Request forms for district transportation to these schools are available at our transportation office, Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 3:30pm.
